Description On the 33 bus back home from downtown. I'm surprised this woman didn't notice me photograph her... she must have really been deep in thought.

Indeed!
I feel shy to shoot people on the bus, because they would claim or look disappointed to me...

I think you've managed to get just the right amount of light on her face to show her expression. Anymore light, and your background would probably be blown out and you'd lose the great silhouettes you currently get.

Love this.

hey, i missed your pictures. this one i like very much...i want to do street pictures here. But here, in Romania, people are not so used to cameras and become very attentive at you. And i find it a pleasure to catch them when they are with their thoughts only

i know how you feel about that... sometimes i feel like no one looks at me until the moment i need to raise my camera to my eye. so i often take hip- or waist-level shots. they're much less easily detected. try that!

maybe she noticed you but pretended she didn't
and maybe that's why she looks so proud ;D
Great expression, great photograph!

haha, that could be. she looked proud even before i took out my camera. she didn't change her expression the whole time

I love the lighting in this shot. So subtle on the subject but harsh in the background.

Well done

or..she choose to ignore ya.

this is marvelous Meredith...
I love the composition....
*
do you think the lighting on her is too low?
then again... it can come across as in the blues....
what do you think?
*
dont you love close ups of humans in their element of being.
yes--it feel invasive alittle...but something forces one to capture it...
do you think that signifies a street photographer
the ones who aren't into paparazzi nonsense...but capture the existence of their times and the documentation of the lives?

i actually like the dreamy feel of the light

yes, that was the one thing that really drew me to her... she was so lost inside her own thought. and yes, i do believe that's what street is all about... capturing the little moments that no one pays mind to... a minute of peace in the chaos of the city, i guess. thanks, stefanie.

You got so close to her and took her photograph, don't you get nervous about it? I always do.

The photograph is really nice though, an unusual portrait style.

well, i was sitting right behind her, so i didn't have to move much except to raise the camera to my eye. thank you.
