Description This is a commission for a work mate of my wife. Emma had been showing some of my work on her mobile phone (!) and a lady in her office asked if I would consider drawing an old photo of her.

I was actually given a photocopy of the photo and that presented a challenge in itself. Also the photocopy made the hair dark and I was asked to make it blonder. Well knowing my reluctance to shade darkly, that wasn't a problem.

In the end I am very pleased with how this has turned out. I have received permission to post my version.

Aww, how sweet and innocent! You've got the round features of a child here perfectly, those eyes and lips are especially lovely, not to mention the clothing! Wonderful work, she must've been thrilled with the result!

First, it was "AWW!!" Then came a long "...Ohhhh..." The word that came to mind first was "precious;" this little one is just precious! Such a wide, innocent gaze (the title is PERfect!)--those eyes!--and those full little lips and chubby cheeks... I'm with *WraithTen on the clothing--masterfully done! Your wife is a doll, to promote your work this way--and I'm sure this piece will have an appropriately prominent display location!

Aww, how cute! I love the expression on her face, it's just adorable! Her eyes are mesmerising, they just draw you right in... and as always I love your work with the shading and textures, it's masterful. Thank you, Karen. I really started to love this one after I had drawn the eyes. I think it was then that it stopped being something I said I would do to something I really wanted to draw...

This is excellent, Richard. I guess I'm a sucker for clothes because I can't draw them but I can actually tell the different materials, like I know what they feel like. I can't give a better description than that but, it's a really nice drawing.
