Description Before video games caused such a scourge on young
people (and some NOT so young), kids sliding could be
numbered in the hundreds, even on cold, snowy days
like this one. Now, this is how it looks. I have always
been fond of this stand of young-ish oaks. But, I'll
be forever grateful to never have had video games,
et.al, when I grew up and would slide the hills of Duluth.

Thank you. It's part of a series I did last year on
WHERE I LIVE...Eden Prairie MN. You can see the compendium
of paintings on my home page, upper left. Glad you like it!

Another stunner, Dick ~ you've really captured the atmosphere! Coco

PS. We didn't get TV in my family till I was 15 ~ I remember my childhood as a lot of fun outside!

Thanks Coco!!! I was ten when mom and dad bought
a B/W TV. I still preferred the outdoors. We had
just moved from Duluth to Minneapolis, so we left
those great sliding hills behind. Sniff...
Have a great day...outside!

Hi Chris - How's the weather where you are?
Thanks for the FAVE - it seems like ages
have passed since the cold winter day of
Winter Sliding Hill. Today, where I live, the
temp will reach 100 degrees F. Hope you're in
a cool spot. The oaks are still there but not
the slider! Oh, and the snow left long ago...
Regards from Dick Green Eden Prairie Minnesota USA

As it reached 102ΒΊ F. yesterday, I think I'm
beginning to miss winter already...
Let's enjoy life, no matter what it brings...

I know I probably should not blather on about the negatives
of video games...but the reality is right in front of me:
1) Children/young adults will pay a price which arrives later
in life, IF they continue to play these games non-stop. They
will not develop passions in life (except gaming), their
relationships will eventually suffer; they usually play alone
or with someone ON LINE. They find themselves moody and out of
sorts, until they're playing. AND, they use the games to mitigate
the pain of just growing up. My son, at 22, suffers from all
these things - and he's still an addict. One thing is certain:
He's not alone. Sorry for bangin' on!!! 2) Thanks for your comments.
It's a traditional painting, but it's brand new, and with the
96F degrees it reached here today, I miss those winter days. We
just can't make up our minds here, Trish.

No ...it's true...we are never satisfied ....but if itgets too hot I wilt....and if it gets too cold I almost hibernate!
I agree with you...Our chn also sit with games in communal groups....and not a word is spoken...they just click away...but not if I have anything to do with it....Mind you they love the hands on approach of art work.....especially experimenting !!!...whatever age they are
