Description Havasu Creek reaches the Colorado at River Mile 156. The creek originates in large springs at the base of the Redwall Limestone in the Havasupai Reservation. The famous waterfalls on the reservation are formed by enormous travertine (rim-stone) dams formed by carbonate precipitated from the creek. A number of breached rim-travertine dams are present along Havasu Creek above its confluence with the Colorado. The large dark brown boulders on either side of the creek are dam remnants. The cliffs along the creek are Muav Limestone of Cambrian age.
