i just had to find a way to use the jellyfish scrap, it's been lying around for weeks. i glued it onto something else and wasn't satisfied so i dissolved the glue and took it off again! collage is a maniacal process sometimes. but the scale is small so it's not too embarrassing

there is a toucan there too - the jellyfish is swimming sideways

ha ! sorry for being so slow ... now your mysterious sentence makes a bit more sense

and the toucan should seriously consider to fight for his right to retire

RichardLeach In reply to Piarvi-Recherreen [2013-03-01 16:18:15 +0000 UTC]

well it doesn't have to make complete sense but it is a real sentence snipped from the newspaper, not something i made up

Poor jellyfish - he thinks that he is immortal. Or maybe it is the poor keeper who thinks the jellyfish immortal. Probably the latter, since the jellyfish appears to wear a knowing smile.

This is another collage that has a Zen feel for me, Richard. I think that the background's parchment look, the simple composition, and the faded red along the right margin have a lot to do with that. The smile that I perceive also tends to look like the expression of some Zen monks that I have seen depicted in old drawings. Maybe the "jellyfish" is actually a stooped monk, traveling in a non-dual manner, somewhere in the realm between dual concepts (-P and +P). Too many words. Translation: I like it!

And now for a more analytical reading of the cards : many of your collages seem to be made on the playing cards , creating art can be a gamble ,cards are also used to read fortunes - collage , with short suggestive words ,draws towards intuition and insight,
abilities that may seem like they would predict the future ( and some times they do )
tea leaves are also used for prediction ,here the yellyfish made from tea stain ,yellyfish ,liguid-like,transparent next to being immaterial ,immortal - soul .So they are true words : Caring for the immortal soul is a full time job.

RichardLeach In reply to 7markus7 [2013-03-01 14:35:54 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much for this extra reading of the piece. I put the pieces together with a lot of intuition and then when they are done see what I have. So - the idea of the soul was not something I began with, but when I finished I indeed saw that it was there.
