I did a drawing of one of my favorite villains of all time Venom. I sketched him out then scanned him into my computer and then uploaded him to Photoshop where I painted him. I loved how it turned out. Cell shading is one of my favorite techniques to use to paint. Venom is suppose to be all black so the blue areas are where light reflects off of him. In the comics he's colored blue even though he's supposed to be all black because creating reflection with black in comic books were no easily done.Related content

Thank you so much. I think cel shading is going to be the style that I'm going to stick with rather then soft shading. I just like the hard edges and you don't really have to blend as often either. Have you ever tried cel shading before? I see that you do a lot more soft shading and blending in most of your art work.

No, I have never done that before to be honest. It requires clear lineart, and I almost never work with clear lines lol.

THANK YOU so much for noticing. It was tough trying to figure out where the muscle would be. Ahaha yeah they are more claw like then actual hands. It gives a really creepy more alien like feel then just giving him normal human hands.

Yeah I went with the darker shade of blue for Venom. There are three different ways to actually draw him from what I've seen. You can go with the classic black and white where white is usually the reflective color, a really light blue and black and also the darker tone blue and black. I choose the darker blue because I wanted to create a darker more sinister feeling that would come from him.
