Probably one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen, and I don't even watch or play Final Fantasy!

You see Rick, normally I wouldn't comment, but your apparent copyrighting of the word 'comix' angers my soul. You haven't invented anything. The word comix was in use during the underground movement of the 1960s and 70s, associated with a plethora of underground comic artists including Robert Crumb of Fritz the Cat fame.
And, perhaps apart from the tell tale cross dressing theme, this isn't particularly underground.
To be honest, I'm not sure it's a brand or copyright already, but it would be like copyrighting the word 'book'. Put 'comix' in wikipedia and read up. Or, as I did, read the fabulous 'Comics, Comix and Graphic Novels: A History of Comic Art' by Roger Sabin. If you're really interested that is, I'm not sure you are but it would do you a world of good to see the rich history of comic art that's out there.

Hm. That all sounds pretty interesting actually. ome to think of it, I think I only had a very vague memory of Comix as a word being to do with the underground movement, but it didn't really stick with me. That's some pretty cool info right there.

You should get that book I mentioned, it's absolutely ace, so much info and loads of comic artists in there. Worth the money and broadened my horizons anyway.

I just typed a comprehensive reply but deviant art ate it.
The jist of it was: I was trying to be informative, appreciate that as a nice gesture.
I'll be 'about the art' and make comments as such when you learn to draw accurately from life. Until you do that I have nothing else to say.
I don't dip to petty sarcasm as below. If you can't take my fairly tame comments you would be eaten alive by anyone in industry. I'm assuming you doing things like copyrighting brands means you're interested in making it a business at some point, and it is a harsh, harsh world.
Le fin.

petty sarcasm eh...well i'm sorry you took it that way...i suppose you can take things differently in text. Well i did take your comments and i did change my comment (as i said i would) and i do know about changing ideas etc and i know how it kinda works in the real world (if only through what i hear/see etc) so i will change/evolve my ideas when criticism and/or suggestions are given.
I hope this hasnt sounded like sarcasm again, but if it does...its the text talkin lol
Regards Ricko
p.s. if any of this doesnt make sense...remember who your commenting on lol

You don't have to write 'regards' at the end of the comment, it's not letter writing, that's what I took as sarcasm!
I'm banging my head against the wall a bit, cause to be honest, I thought I was pretty clear. I refrain from commenting on your drawings because until you can draw accurately from life it is pointless trying to critique. That is what industry wants. Solid life drawing. Anyone will tell you that.
I couldn't care for shit if you wanted to use the word comix or spelt everything wrong or pretend you invented sliced bread if only you concentrated on the above.
And I think if you had any idea what happens in the 'real world' of the industry this kind of thing would not be your priority. You should have come to stoke your fires if it was.
If I sound harsh that's just because that's the way it is!

And that's precisely why I've stopped giving critique. Keiron - case in point.

Well, I'm quite happy to talk about things in a light mood, but it gets aggravating when you try to be helpful to someone and they just ignore you!
Stoke your fires was so good man, I got chatting to this storyboard artist and he's gunna help me with my work as he's no longer in the business due to illness. Plus there was the head of chapman entertainment, two directors /animators from the cgi dvision of Aardman, Pat Gavin who's done just SO much TV work and has been in the industry since the 50s, shedloads of independent film makers, an executive producer type guy from McKinnon and Saunders, a voice over artist who's done stuff on Star Wars and endless adverts and tv programs, PLUS MORE, it was just immense!
I literally did not know what to do with myself, it was a networking dream. I could have spoke to more people but I was a bit shy I'll have to try harder next time.
Everyone was so nice too, so willing to talk about things and be helpful. The head guy from Chapman Entertainment gave a great talk on tv for preschoolers and how to fund it via merchandising etc, really really interesting and insightful. He was also so out there about people contacting him if they had ideas for kids tv programs.
You should go next year, I imagine it can only get bigger and better.
By the way, are you free monday/tuesday lunchtime?
