I always felt that Rose was aware of the patriot’s plans for Raiden. In real life, most major medical procedures like transplants are preceded by detailed psychological evaluations. Raiden’s cyborg modification procedure likely cost millions of dollars. It’s only logical to assume that there would be a long term psych evaluation preceding it.
In the pic, I wanted to give a sense that she’s whispering into his ear, but also inserting those tubes into his back, referencing both the idea of backstabbing, and also her active role in his eventual fate.
He’s holding her close, because he’s just desperate enough to cling to the illusion and keep believing…..even though there’s very little of him left. In essence, he’s not so much clutching HER as he is clinging to the idea of having… something….. a relationship, companionship, a sense of normalcy….. anything at all.
