Love every single thing in the composition. The soft yet so perfect contrast and the pose itself are masterfully drawn Maya. Addition of the window adds to the sense of space and surrounding and the height of the building too.

That's a fine drawing. I really love how this looks, it's amazing how well you define different kinds of objects with just pencil. What size is this in?

I'm not sure about the light (as mentioned in the description) but this is some damp fine meticulous pencil drawing. Which raises the question as you don't shy away from the fine details, why treat her face this way? My guts tell me it's too dark in her face. That black undefined blob just sticks out like its begging to be refined.Β
Still great drawing!

Thank you!
I felt her face is less important than her hands and the interior, so I intentionally ignored it, which is consistent with the lighting: the light from the window is from the back, the light from the doorway is not strong enough. But I appreciate your input: it might be better to 'humanize' the image by showing more of the face.

i love the strong vertical lines, and the height of the windows above her; this being a tall and very narrow space says a lot about her workplace, and undoubtedly reminds many of us of spaces we have worked or studied in.
What kind of work does she do here? Art, electronics, computer repair...?
This may have just become my favorite of your works: lean, spare, essential, with the focused intensity of her extended, braced body and the utility of her space.

My sympathy about those cages! I don't think it's physically possible to wash mouse cages enough, though it's some decades since I've dealt with them (not in lab research myself; just a couple of pets, and later a temp job at a university that had me doing everything from hand-grading English quizzes to taking care of lab mice feeding & cage cleaning when the grad-student research assistants managed to wangle a few days' vacation, usually by "calling in sick").
I never figured out how a scrubbed-down empty cage could keep so strong a smell even after being scrubbed down for an hour and boiled in the sterilizer (against official lab rules, but the researchers insisted), but when those rodents scent-mark, they certainly do scent-mark!

Thank you! Sketchbook drawings are sadly perishable: they rub against the pages. And even finished pencil drawings on separate sheets are difficult to store: that wasone of the reasons why I shifted to watercolor back then.
