Update [8/24/2016]: I thought I'd share the updated version of this work. The reason for the slight update was this work being included in a small local art exhibition earlier this year.
I also renamed the work "Ausklang", which is German for the final music notes/the finale of a piece of music (the former title "The Violinist" was a bit too descriptive

Was it hard to learn how to play the violin?

Well, I'm still very much learning to play, as I only started playing the violin three years ago. But it's been a little easier for me because I already know how to play piano (been playing piano since I was 7), so I'm already able to read sheet music, hear when the note I'm playing is off, and generally have more musical experience than if violin was my first instrument. So I don't find it that hard, but it takes a lot of practise, patience, and determination.
