woho! Thank you, Niko! I ended up with something slightly similiar in this newer painting [link] with the gold of the grass and the gray/green of the other elements, which I'm very fond of. Sometimes I see these color combinations in real life, and they make my heart feel at ease, so if I can recreate them even a little in my own art... it's really a pleasant sensation.

This is great! It's so cute - and making me want to do more art trades with friends too! Plus, have I ever mentioned how grateful I am that you find and interact with so many good artists for me to then stalk? I mean... watch. As in.... DeviantArt watching... : d
No, but seriously, your art for others is always so fun! (not to say your other art isn't fun....)
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
Rin-Uzuki In reply to GuardianAngelKiko [2012-08-10 23:59:45 +0000 UTC]
haha, no, you never have mentioned that before now, actually...! XD In fact, no one has ever said anything like that before in my life! You're a riot, Kiko.
Thank you so much for that Thomas you drew me way back when! I still love it dearly. <3
haha, and about 97% of my finished pieces are for other people, mostly gifts, and the occasional commission........ which is cool, but sometimes I'd like to make more time to draw art just for me. Luckily, the art I draw others is also for me, and every kind of painting is an enjoyable one! <3

GuardianAngelKiko In reply to Rin-Uzuki [2012-08-15 07:53:41 +0000 UTC]
Haha, well you have awesome artist friends. And don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise! : d
There's nothing wrong with having made so much art for other people, either! I sometimes wish I drew more for other people... But I know drawing things for yourself is also good. : ] What I don't understand is why you don't draw for yourself more often. I assume it's time constraints?
And I'm so glad you still like that Thomas piece, haha. Despite the fact that the perspective is horribly off. =m=;;;

*GASP* You'd make Harvest Moon doujinshi if you had spare time!?!?! I need to make this happen. I must clear your schedule.
But yes, it is always easier to make time to make things for other people. Although, I always feel pressured to make it perfect then, too. Haha.
But seriously, I need to make this HM doujinshi happen.
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
Rin-Uzuki In reply to GuardianAngelKiko [2012-08-23 21:31:16 +0000 UTC]
haha, oh dear! How will you clear my schedule? XD
But yes! I've got four or five ideas for little Harvest Moon doujinshi that I'd really love to be able to try and put together one day...!
The closest ones to being finalized (plot-wise) are:
- Gray and Mary story
- story about Popuri's parents (mix of PS1 and N64 ver. haha)
less finished:
- Sort of a first chapter of a more extended story based on Ann and the hero
- story about the dude in the woods (PS1 ver., can't remember if he's in N64 or not)
Well, it would honestly be encouraging to be kindly nagged about Harvest Moon every so often. Knowing people are interested is a motivating factor too, y'know?
I'm still trying to figure out what materials would be best.

GuardianAngelKiko In reply to Rin-Uzuki [2012-08-30 03:35:41 +0000 UTC]
Haha, awwwwww, that all sounds so sweet and wholesome. But, I don't think I know which guy in the woods you're talking about..... Not the bug guy, right? Or the carpenter.....? Gotz? He was like, Karen's dad in the N64 version, but turned into the carpenter in Back to Nature. I don't remember the bug guy's name at all.
And I think that deciding which materials would be best depends on whether or not you think you want to make several copies of it or not, etc.
But anyway, you already know I'm totally interested! : ]
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
Rin-Uzuki In reply to GuardianAngelKiko [2012-08-30 19:09:28 +0000 UTC]
Yeah! The carpenter!
I knoow! Isn't it so crazy how the relationships flip around in the different versions? Like the guy who's Karen's dad in Back to Nature was totally the baker in the N64 version. And there's one (the snes?) where Ann is totally the inventor kid, but in another, that's Rick...
it's almost like a bunch of parallel universes... it's really pretty cool.
I've heard the new HVmoon games aren't as good.
I wonder if that's just 'cuz the people playing them are older now, or if they really are missing some quality inherent in the older versions... suppose I'll be able to find out for myself one year!
haha, as for the bug guy...
I remember my brother making a quip about how he thought the bug guy was the carpenter's romantic interest, since he's always in there. X'D (I think it was 'cuz I mentioned wanting to do a story about how he became a hermit, with his family passing away. I think it'd be really freakin' touching and sad if pulled off right.)
Thanks again for all the interest! It gets me thinking about the things I want to do again.
I'd really like to use a dip pen, but I'm rubbish at it so far, so I'm thinking maybe I can ink with a very thin brush. I don't know if I can also shade with ink or black paint in that case...
I did an ink test a year or so back: [link]
I figure I'll scan it and then can make copies if people are interested, like yourself.
I think a full-color comic would be too busy, but if I tried a two-color or so comic, it might be fun.

GuardianAngelKiko In reply to Rin-Uzuki [2012-09-06 04:43:54 +0000 UTC]
Oh man, you are only feeding the fire! I think that ink test looks great! I really have no idea whether your assessment of your own abilities with a dip pen are valid or not. :/ I'd guess you're exaggerating, though.
But, I enjoy the more recent HM games. They don't have the same glitchy-ness and badly translated text quirks about them, but I think they are still very good games. I'd play any of them over FFXIII any day, but that's just me.
But yeah, if you ever want me to prod you more or do anything else regarding these doujis you might want to do, I'm in! : D

mmh, yeah, I get'cha! It's supposed to be a reaaaaaaaallly big leaf (for some reason), so theoretically, I suppose, both the girl and the snorlax could be under it, heheh.
The Snorlax was an after-thought, so I can see how it turned out this way, with not enough depth separating them. Ah, well. Live and learn, eh?
