In light of the new Pirates movie -- which I've heard is really good -- I watched the original and drew my favorite pirate ever: Hector Barbossa. Jack the Monkey managed to worm his way into it. I think I might see the new movie... but mainly because of Geoffrey Rush and Ian McShane.

Jack looks demonic XD How did the fourth movie go for you? I haven't seen it in a long time, but I remember thinking it was kinda boring (not to mention Barbossa's role really surprised me in a "what in the heck happened to you?" kind of way; and I don't mean him having a peg leg)

Yes I have enjoyed Captain Hector Barbossa a lot more than Captain Jak Sparrow!
Don't get me wrong POTC only exists as it is because of Johnny Depp because of Captain Jack Sparrow but the more I see Barbossa in the films the more I love him. ^^

So glad to know I'm not the only one who thought Barbossa made a better pirate than Sparrow. Don't get me wrong, Sparrow is fine, he portrays the dreamer side of the pirate. Barbossa is the realist pirate. One will leave you with empty promises but the other will leave you with a fortune.

The films' writers have described Barbossa and Jack as being two sides of the same coin, the darker side and the lighter side of what the called the trickster. But I agree with you; Jack is the romantic fantasy while Barbossa is the harsh, incredible reality. For me, he IS everything a pirate should be, but people glorify Sparrow. Too much, I might add.

Back in Tahoe I saw they had this on DVD, so I watched it and remembered just how awesome this guy is. Amazing work!

Ehh, I'm not really interested in the next Pirates movie.. When they killed off Davy Jones, they killed off my love for the Pirates Movies..

Yeah, I was pissed about them killing of Davy Jones, too. And it's not a silly reason, I know the feeling all too well.

Some of it is good, some is hokey. The whole mermaid scene is awesome, wonderfully done. Watching Barbossa be his usual kick ass self is fun to watch. I don't like his new look tho, but I tried to just roll with it. The interactions with Barbossa and Jack are always enjoyable. Blackbeard.....well, honestly, I don't think Disney should have used a historical figure since they could not even get the ship's flag correct, but Ian did do a good job anyway. Some of it tho I felt he was channeling the way Barbossa was in the first movie. There were some scenes that were recycled from the 1st movie too, but meh, you should still check it out. It's still a fun movie none the less.
But yay, love your Barbossa picture! I just love ol' Barby! He's part of my favorite bad-ass older male villain/neutral collection, haha!

But I am relieved that he is still a badass. And I was shocked that they actually had Blackbeard in this one. But I do love Ian McShane....
Barbossa is the best character in the Pirates films, imo. When my mom found out that I was a Barbossa fangirl, she was all "what is wrong with you??" XD

LOL! I had people think that of me too. As it is my aunt saw my Disney villain towel I have mounted above the wall and was like, "what is it with you and the villains?" I was like, "because good is dumb." LOL! I so could not resist answering her like that.
Oh, yeah, Barbossa is very bad ass! I did not like how he lost his leg, but he proved he can still kick some major ass with only one leg. Without giving anything away, Barbossa proves he is even more bad ass than Blackbeard, reclaiming his awesome wickedness all over again. I flippin' cheered!

Yes, good is indeed dumb. I remember seeing Jack Sparrow at Disney World and him saying to me, "It never would've worked out between us, darling." To this I said, "Well at least there's Barbossa."
As I walked away, I turned my head and he said, "I'm speechless." Nailed him. 
Barbossa can't be surpassed. He simply can't. I go into a store and see all that Jack Sparrow stuff and wonder just when is the real pirate gonna have his turn in the spotlight? Barbossa should have his own storyline, don't ya think?

LOL! Oh, snap! In your face, Jack, haha! I agree, Barbossa really is amazing! I still have my head to toe Barbossa standee. Got it when At Worlds End came out. He proudly stands near my Frollo collection, along with the villain towel mounted above them. Hehe, no wonder why my aunt thought I was nuts!
So many people have been saying that Barbossa needs a back-story movie. OMG, that would be beyond amazing if they did that! Geoffrey is phenomenal as Barbossa. I just fell for him when he first appeared in ghostly silhouette in the first movie. I was like, oh, dear gah, who is this mysteriously dark tall man?

It gets better: when I was at 'Mickey's Boo to You' Halloween parade, I saw a PotC boat and guess who was leading the front: Hector Barbossa himself! I shouted his name and he actually stopped to look at me. I gathered up my courage and shouted "I love you!" HE SMILED AND BLEW ME A KISS.
And heck yes Barbossa needs his own movie! We know plenty about Jack, let's move on, shall we?
