Description
This place wasn't home, but it was the next best thing while they rested. The trek to their destination had been disrupted by mudslide debris in their path, blocking them from going the way they knew. Now the four had to rest at a temporary camp while they tried to think of a way past the wall of stone and foliage.
Jumping onto a tall stone, the male goat glanced behind him as his friend stood close by on the ground. “Really, Mina, you'll love it there,” the one on the rock was saying. Ever since they had found her, the boy had been telling her about his and the wolf's valley, wanting her to be excited about her new home. She always seemed to welcome the new information, even if he had mentioned it a few times before.
With a smile, Mina examined the rock he stood on before shaking herself. “Oh, I'm sure I will,” she replied. “I mean, you've told me so much about it, Mei. It sounds lovely.”
Grinning, Mei nodded enthusiastically. “It really is.”
Up above, the overcast sky seemed to rumble in agreement. At the sound, Mei tensed, glancing around nervously. Noticing his behavior, his companion asked, “Are you alright? What's wrong?”
Frowning now, Mei leaped off the rock and looked toward the crater in the side of the hill that the four had made camp in. “Oh, uh, nothing,” he bleated, blinking quickly. Still worried, Mina came to his side and attempted to look in his eyes, but the male wouldn't make contact. Instead, he hopped off rather hastily toward shelter as another roll of thunder drummed above.
Once inside, Mei circled quickly and laid down, still frowning. He had neglected telling his newest friend about his and his other companions shared fear of thunder. Would she think him silly for being scared of something like that? Just then, Mina ducked into the den and sat beside him.
“Mei, what's wrong?” she pressed.
His attempts to stay quiet failed him as he ultimately blurted out, “I'm scared of thunder.”
Admitting such a childish fear made him feel as if a rock had settled in his belly. He and Gabu, his long-time friend, had a lot in common, and it was their fear of thunder that had brought them to meet one another. Closing his eyes to make sure he didn't see Mina's reaction, the goat tried to search for any sounds of laughter or scoffing at him.
Instead, he felt something warm press against his cheek and Mei looked up quickly, surprised. Light blue eyes stared back at him, a sympathetic smile dancing across her face as Mina tilted her head. “That's all? Mei, you could have told me before, silly! It's OK though.” There was no trace of anything negative in her eyes, only kindness. At this, Mei couldn't help but sheepishly smile back at her.
Together, the two laid in the cave as the thunder grew louder and the sky darker. Eventually, their two other traveling partners joined them, rushing into the den just before the storm broke outside. As the thunder rolled, the two males flinched in turn at the booming sound while the females tried to comfort them. It could be considered a childish fear, but the girls showed no signs of being judgmental and the entire time they only tried to soothe them.

Anyway, more Arashi no Yoru ni fanart. This time you finally see the girl I've paired Mei up with! See, I didn't make it all about Gabu and Ash lol. And yes, I did change her up a bit so she's a different character in this universe, not my fursona, not me. I know it isn't very original, but eh, better than putting my actual self in there like some people might think I did.

About the female goat: her name is Mina and she's found about half-way through the fanfic :3. I actually have a rough drawing of her design made, but it wouldn't even be fit to upload into scraps so xD. yeah.

Anyway, more fanart yadda yadda. I enjoy drawing this stuff, I'm sorry if you're sick of me putting characters in other stories. A lot of people do it (though that's no excuse) so just don't look it you don't wanna see it~
