Heart-heavy child,
we will walk a while;
it's time to seek the
witches once again
so come you by.
Last night I saw you
running in the rain
to hide your tears-
you think that you've
forgotten how to dream;
the things you love are hidden,
they do not abandon you,
and it may be they are sleeping
through the cold-
the garden gates are closed
against the bitter and the grey
so come you by.
My hand upon your heart
attends the steady thrum and warm
that reach me there
in shadow talk of light and boundless blue-
so often you are silent as the snow.
Some flights engender bliss if you
have strength to meet the air;
I see your fear,
I recognize what tethers you to ground
so come you by.
We'll walk until the night is
only minutes spare of day;
remember this, the witches say
we need not seek new ways to speak
of very ancient things, so feel me near,
and see my arms that offer you
a place to disappear.
