**Please View Full Size**Being that he was the youngest son, Merrec was stuck with most of the boring and unpleasant chores. Thanks to the fact that he was the least afraid of heights out of all his siblings, he was assigned one task that he looked forward to. Each evening he would climb to the top of the tallest tower, where he would summon beautiful melodies from his flute... and sing the dragons home.

You are the first person I've ever seen use gradients in a picture without me wanting to kill myself afterwards. In fact, in this piece, it has quite the opposite effect. I love how stylized it is (very storybook), and the composition is great. You deserved that win.

I must admit, I used them a bit more than I wanted to, but until I learn how to paint in Photoshop like I can with watercolours, I'm afraid it's all I can do.. *sigh* At least it works with the stylized storybook look- hooray!

I remember that it didn't get along very well with my old computer, so I didn't get a chance to play with it all that much. Perhaps I'll give it another try on the new machine...

This is just beautiful, Riss. I love the lighting you've used on the clouds and the river -- the glow is soft to keep it gentle but bright enough to give the bouncy clouds a wonderful color! The dragons are icing on the cake. Good luck with that contest and hope you win it with this one!

Ahh... thanks! I had such a hard time with the lighting.. I mean, it was fun, but it took forever! If I didn't have a deadline for this pic, I'd probably still be tweaking it!
The dragons were definitely the most fun, though.. I hope it shows!
