First of all, it is necessary to divide “why” and “how to teach better”. Modern (s) systems are more perfect than they once were, but still far from ideal. This is bad news for parents, and good for those who want to make the world better: it’s clear what to do. But what to do, until the ideal system is invented? I believe that it is still necessary to teach, even according to the existing system. What for? I see three main reasons.
