The range of textures you achieve is remarkable. I thought at one stage you must have some way of spraying those dots on, but I guess they're done one at a time; nevertheless how you get even, controlled tone that way is really something.

A wonderful rendering in the pointillism style! I started out as a trad artist (before writing poetry in earnest), and stippling was a favorite way to observe pointillism. I only have one that survived which exists in my dA gallery (it's of Paul McCartney). My style was very different from yours, but still, the joy of executing art using nothing but dots seemed to come naturally to me. If you ever want to see my one example, I'd be happy to link you in a note so you don't think I'm pimping my own efforts here in a public way. You might be able to tell that I'm excited to see your work because in the almost 12 years I've been here, you're the first artist I've run across who expresses art in this very special (to me) way!

Revisiting your gallery while waiting and hoping for additions to your already remarkable body of work, I was struck anew by the evocative power of this piece. The ambivalent nature of sleep and dreams is wonderfully captured by the attitude of the moths towards the girl in a deep slumber : tender yet quietly intrusive, delicate but ultimately oppressive (they are, after all, so alien)... This seemingly peaceful scene slowly becomes wrought with tension : something might be on the verge of happening... or it might not. In the end, we all become moths when we sleep : unknowable, inscrutable and different.
