Description This is a "before & after" making the wood miniature diamond plate that 'bends' around a 90' corner. The inset photo is the HO scale brass train I copied everything from as seen through the eye Loup magnifier. Here you can also see the exaggerated wood grain to imply the tiny HO brass casting enlarged. It wasn't intended to look like realistic wood grain but as miniature HO scale wood grain 'scratch lines' in the brass that's been enlarged 24 times.

I laid out the diamond pattern in pencil, then glued all the wood strips continuous parallel one way. I then had to pre cut each of the tiny pieces of wood to go the opposite way and imply the lines are continuous both directions.

When it came to the curve I cut a quarter section from a wood dowel and blended it into the flat decking and vertical wall (all made of thin plywood luan). Each of the strips from the diamond plate pattern had to be carefully bent around the corner. I carefully 'cracked' each stick into many small segments from the back side then bent them around the quarter round dowel.

Just complete the existing pattern going down the wall. Everything is then filled with Bondo filling between the diamond ridges to imply the entire piece is cast from a single piece of metal.
