I suspect that Voyager would have been better placed in this.

why are they running? they're using lasers.

lasers are useless against shields. lol

They're not running. They're getting turned around, phasers are more fun to shoot when you can see the other guys exploding!
LOL.
Robert.

i don't think starfleet is too into having fun blowing people up though. lol i think they'd just fire a few rear phasers at them. and that'd be it. especially since they are both *apparently really BIG* fighters. lol

Turbolasers (or if you prefer, turboblasters) are what's used in the Star Wars universe (the idea is that laser is just the ordinary thing used in CD players and other thing, turbolasers are used to really wreck something, like shields or a hull.)

LOL they are still very weak compared to the mass amounts of damage ONE phaser does to a ship.

starfleet focuses on building very few, really powerful starships. that are powerful enough to go it alone if need be.

star wars designs it's ships for totally different purposes. their ships are meant to travel in large fleets. so they do not have to be nearly as strong, nor as powerful.

but the point is, star wars weapons have trouble destroying their own ships. which take MANY hits from their lasers, and other weapons. star trek weapons tend to destroy a ship in one or two hits. especially star fleet's ships. star fleet's ships are often out numbered. and tend to come out victorious. hell, the Enterprise is capable of destroying an entire planet, in one shot. with it's main reflector dish. the ships are also much faster. star wars, they are go light speed. which is the fastest you can go. but in star trek, they warp space itself. allowing you to go from one side of the galaxy to another, faster then the speed of light.

the weapons and ships of star wars and star trek, do not even match up. not even by half. and you can call them what ever you want. blasters, turbo lasers. or whatever.

they are still very MUCH lasers.

I said TURBO lasers-that implies something more powerful than a standard laser.

Star Wars ship can cross a galaxy in a day, it takes ships in Star Trek years (unless they have slipstream or transwarp, as dictated by the plot of an episode or movie.)

Starfleet can fight wars, but their ships aren't orientated to fight just wars, unless they are built for that purpose (c.f. the Defiant from DS9, which was made to fight the Borg- and lost.) Starfleet ships are smaller than Imperial ships, and would be wasted in any conflict with the Empire (and most likely the Rebel Alliance as well.) Just to fight a single ISD would take four or five Galaxy and Ambassador-class ships alone.

The Enterprise (NCC-1701-A) could destroy a planet with the main deflector dish-we haven't see it do so yet, just a Borg cube.
