If you've followed my artwork, you'll know that I've long been interested in the idea of mashing together the Star Wars and Marvel universes. Here I've drawn an imagined confrontation between Captain America and Darth Vader. I intentionally drew it as the moment before a punch or saber is thrown - to leave 'what happens next' to the viewer's imagination!

I'm really pleased with how this looks. I think Captain America looks reminiscent of how John Byrne drew him - that wasn't intentional and this is my original depiction, not a copy - but I've always been a big fan of John Byrne so maybe I've subconsciously absorbed a very small amount of his style. I'd be overjoyed if I could draw my comic characters even a fraction as well as John Byrne! I also thought the colour palette reminded my of the way Barry Windsor-Smith used colour. Again, this wasn't intentional, but he's another big influence and a fantastic artist - so I'd be delighted if my art could in any way emulate his work.
