Got inspiration from Erik Johansson. Done in PS CS5 and the model is me.

I've seen my fair share of photography about chopping your fingers off (or anything off) where the feeling of the picture is frantic, frenzied, and often very gory. This picture, while it may be in the same category as all those other bloody (and sometimes nauseating) pictures, definitely stands out on its out. It gives the feeling of calm and serene, as if you actually were only chopping carrots, yet you look at it and see something horrific.
This picture is beautifully done. In fact, it had me centimeters away from the computer screen, trying to figure out if you used a prosthetic hand, or if the editing that had been done was really THAT spectacular (or if you actually DID chop off your fingers, which I hope you didn't).
I love this picture. It makes me shudder, but I want to look at it over and over again. It is definitely one of those photos where you look at it, wince and say 'ouch!' and then immediately afterwards take a second glance and say, 'That is too freaking cool.'

First glance of this.. I almost laughed and not because it's cheesy. My tummy fluttered with excitement, I grinned, I squinted, bit my lip, and took another look all over again. This is so subtly frightening, I can't believe anyone would be so calm and precise. I feel like it's one of those Asian knife infomercials from late night TV. IT CUTS HUMAN BONE NO RESIST ORDER NOW!
I really just enjoy the aspect of this, the perspective. Shall I cut up my hand today? WHo needs fingers amiright? Finger food with a side of insanity. This is just surreal, the lack of blood is disturbing. I am puzzled and amazed all at once!

Good golly when I saw this my stomach just about went up my throat. I'm very glad you put that it was photoshopped in the description! Anyway I think it is a very good piece. There are some rough spots in the hand with the knife but its hard to get things like this perfect. Other than that it is very good. Add some blood and it'd look like you were really chopping your hand to put in a stew. Eeeeg. Anyway to sum it up, GREAT JOB AT GROSSING A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE OUT! Keep up the goof work.

Shocking concept, but amazingly it goes all the way to give ones a gooseskin without any disgusting use of gore or realy graphic hints of body damage.

What an arresting image! It had me centimeters from my screen, just looking to see just HOW the manipulation was done. What works is the fact that this is so...um...forgive the pun, but off-hand. It's so casual, so regular and almost mundane. It's not calling attention to itself and it's easy to miss. I think that is where this pays off the most: it's subtle, and it's quite elegant. In an age where gore seems to be the name of the game, this goes off in the other direction and provides a bit of elegance and more than a little bit of dark humor. VERY dark humor, as if "the character" here is cutting salami rather than human fingers! WOW. I'm gonna love browsing through your gallery!
