Having grown up in Florida, I have a deep love for these creatures. The Florida manatees number have been growing substantially since 1991, and there's talk being thrown around these days questioning the species' long-standing position as 'threatened' on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. With proper population management, habitat restoration, and the enforcement of boating laws, I hope these beautiful marine mammals stick around well into the future.
