It's funny how things that you would never expect to have any artistic merit at all can produce some really cool shots. I was waiting for a trolley outside the Field Museum in Chicago and got bored. I started reviewing my pictures, and accidentally took a picture of...my purse?! After playing around with angles and such, I snapped this one. No digital alterations at all.
I don't know what it is about this picture that strikes me. The hard cement and soft leather give good contrast, and I love the detail on the zipper. The depth of field also worked out perfectly: the top of the image is slightly out of focus, which draws my eye to the rest of the shot. And I love how the colors are so muted that they're almost black and white, but they're still distinct enough to catch your eye.
