Description I've been without a deviant ID for my front page for a while, so I decided to draw something specifically with that in mind. I was actually in the middle of drawing something much more self-effacing when I stumbled on this pic of Roger Moore as 007, flanked by two Bond girls, and was inspired by that to go the opposite direction, by drawing something ridiculously self-aggrandizing instead. This seems more appropriate anyway, if only because I came up with my user name because I had William Shatner's (in)famous rendition of "Rocket Man" stuck in my head at the time.

This is like the first really idealized caricature I've drawn of myself since I was a kid. As a kid, I was prone to depicting myself as being much cooler than I actually was. Ever since I hit my teens and my self-loathing went into effect, however, caricatures of myself have usually not been so flattering.

At least you're not wearing a red shirt on an away team. We'd never see you again ...

It probably would have been more true to life if I were the one in the red shirt.

I don't know if you happened to read the two books I just illustrated, or how clear it is if you did, but I made a reference to that trope in the first illustration- an unfortunate character being led away to meet his fate is wearing a red Star Trek shirt.

Actually, I haven't, but I'll make it a point to!

Are you saving them from a baddie or protecting your property?

As I'm sure most women would, I object to the term "property," so while I don't exactly what the situation is, I'm definitely just attempting to shield them from some unseen danger. I don't know why they're topless either, but I thought it would be funnier or something.

If you watch the Star Trek episode The Cage during one of the fantasy sequences Pike is shown dressed like a potentate watching a green woman dance. Earlier in the same episode someone the doctor I think asked Pike if he resigned what was he going to do "take up trafficking in green women." The implication being at that time green women could be sold as property. I didn't know if your captain was a Kirk or a Pike.

Yeah, I was never comfortable with the implications of that. It's tough to reconcile certain parts of The Cage with the rest of Star Trek. Although I'd like to pretend "Enterprise" never happened, one good thing they did was establish that the Orion slave girl thing was a ruse and that the Orion women were really the ones in charge.

I didn't know that about Enterprise. After two episodes I couldn't stand watching it.

I hung in there longer than you, but I know what you mean; that show was largely a disappointment. Though I understand the final season was generally regarded as an improvement, I'd pretty much completely tuned out by then.
