Ugh...3 AM...still not done...but must submit...Still might tweak things later, even after I send this in.
In my quest to avoid drawing Zero characters because I suck at drawing them, while still entering Capcom Unity's Zero contests, I instead draw X characters with Zero because they're in Zero 2. As an added bonus, I get to show off my suckiness at perspective and characters flying towards you, as well as more mediocre background work. Yet I'm actually happy how this looks for again just coloring and merging it all together in one day before the deadline.
In the Phoenix Magnion battle, Mr. Birdy is able to summon 4 of Zero's foes from the first 4 X games as a sort of ultimate cameo attack of pain. So yes, this does have actual in-game value.

Vile would totally be either the ghost of Marley since he and Zero used to work together or the Ghost of Christmas future since you never see his face.

On the one hand, it is the coolest I'll-hold-him-and-you-punch-attack ever! On the other, it sucks to get caught in it. Your artwork is amazing! How can you think this is crappy? Love poor Zero's expression. That is my face whenever Zero and I face off against him. Mr. Birdy is a colossal pain in the ass.

You are correct in the second guess, it's X's charge version of Metal Anchor. Those three should be the only actual battle clones.

I find this picture very amusing, especially Zero's expression and the literal fire in the eyes of the ghosts.
The "X-mas past" is also a great joke, you should make this a Christmas card and send it to your friends, if only as a prank!

Lots of bosses seemed to be a total pain in that series. Once I start playing the collection, I'm sure I'll be reminded of it. But that's why I liked the Zero series, for the challenge. Maybe not to the extent of cart destroying, though...

I once saw a ghostly Lifesaver from MMX5 once, from the original Playstation version, not the anniversary collections. I have it on videotape... unfortunately.
