haha so true, I thought that was the beginning of the sign. guess I have to start paying more attention. ^^
but what really impressed me from Kirby's art is the way he made drawings that were very limited in their color palette look so damn cool. now that's pure artistic skill right there.

You're right, there's so much to be learned from Kirby.
The dynamic poses, creativity, and unparalleled storytelling.
I've always regretted not meeting when I had the chance.
He was a guest at a con years ago along with John Byrne who was super popular at the time. Byrne was surrounded by dozens of fans
including me.
Kirby sat alone, no one at his table, looking sad. I could have spent the afternoon getting tips from a master, but back then I thought he was strictly "old school".
