It's not so difficult to fight... it's really slow!

its actually ok as long as you have the right equipment
I would sugest
some high rank armour rathian rathalos
10 waterblock seeds (for water blight)
10 dragonfel seeds (for dragon blight)
if possible a dragon element weapon, if not then use thunder.
10 max potions
10 potions 
whetstones (unless your a gunner)
air filters so you dont have to worry about oxygen as much
and mabey some uw balista ammo

Remember to cut his beard before area 3

depends if they're playing 3U or just Tri, can't get high rank anything in tri anymore, and for the blights in 3U, it's just nullberries, the block seeds don't exist anymore and dragonfell berries are used to create wyvern shot now, and the only way to get him to go to area 3 is to cut his beard, he won't go there until then

i did it in singleplayer on tri, i was using a switch axe with a dragon vial in it (the tough break i think)
so thats where i got my strategy from.

ah, yeah in 3U, the berries are just nulberries and you can get high rank armor and all

but when you're fighting him, it barely seems like he cares that your there until the end. until then his "attacks" are just him moving around and hitting you with his fins.
