Description I was watching All-Star Superman last night and I tried to come up with a better Superman story than that series. Still can not come up with one. Other people have gone o and on about the meaning and significance of Grant’s take on Superman so I won’t bore you with my ideas here.

Still, I am excited to read Action Comics #1 (don’t have my copies yet) because I feel like, with All-Star, he has closed the book on the old Superman and said what there is to say. I am looking forward to Grant’s ideas of what the next Superman should be.

Supes, mah boi!

Superman, in his entire being, is the personification of idealism. He's not truly super day and night, much like Batman is (cool gadgets, fast cars, money out the wazoo, sexy women at the drop of a hat -- who wouldn't want to be Bruce Wayne, barring mental issues?), but only when he needs to be. Before he sheds that outer layer and proves his true worth, he's just like anybody else.

Clark Kent doesn't need to be a reporter. He could just as easily be a scientist, a zookeeper, a plumber. Ultimately, Clark Kent is the man who goes above and beyond as a member of society, the person who doesn't complain about a situation and move on, but the person who actively tries to change things to make the world better. I think there'll always be a person like that around here somewhere.

Because of this, I don't think Grant Morrison, much less the world, is done with Superman yet. He is, after all, the man who Clark Kent hides.
