Description

Soo, this guy was created as part of a homework for one of my courses. We were supposed to come up with a short story and either write or draw it in nine boxes.

Transcript of the story (good that I already did it in english):

--

Character: Faceless; a faceless android whose senses are limited to feeling and hearing for as long as the front of his skull remains an uncovered hole.

Setting: The debris-filled streets of a post-apocalyptic city

Plot: obtain a face

Faceless roams the streets of a mostly destroyed city. He has to feel his way along the debris.

He finds a pile of corpses [other androids] and starts his routine of scavanging them in search of an intact face.

He feels out faces but they break when he takes them off of their owner or they're broken already. He finds an intact animal face but it isn't compatible with his model.

A noise has him jolt up. He makes it out to be nearby and lunges at its position. As he feels the small body of a hare under his fingers he lets go. Not compatible.

After pushing forward through the streets his sensors pick up on what sounds like footsteps a short distance away. Faceless makes his way towards the source.

Since he has to almost crouch to not stumble over debris, he can stop before falling off the edge he has now reached. The sound is very near, below his level. He drops down.

(New character: Face; an android with a face)

Faceless approaches the last position he heard a noise in and reaches out. His hands meet Face's shoulders and feel their way up to the head. He feels a face. He tries to take it off.

Face roughly shoves Faceless off which has this one launch an attack. The two fight until Face is on the floor. Faceless starts tearing away at Face's throat, seperating cables, killing him.

Faceless rips the face off and covers the hole in his skull with it. He finally can see the world. He sees crooked dirt walls around him, too high to climb, and on the ground a dozen of faceless corpses.

I decided to make him an actual character of mine, most of the time not having a face. OrangeSavannah and I were eagerly plotting yesterday, deciding that Faceless probably has many nicknames since he can't speak to tell people his real name (if he knows it himself), but on one piece of his body his real name will be written plus his serial number. I want to give him a real name which is not just a word that has some meaning or describes the most obvious trait on him, like his current nickname Hollow (which I will probably refer to him by until he has a real name). His design might change a bit in the future since so far he's pretty plain without hinges and visible joints where they should be.

Also we linked him and Orange's new goretober-spawned character who has made his entry into this world as "Nailguy" together, about whom Orange hopefully will tell you more about next time she draws him because we came up with a lot of cool stuff for him.

Man, i wish my courses asked me to do this in my current classes! I gotta draw cones and spheres and random skulls on a table!

Freaking stories and androids, man. THATS my jam.

Love this dudes design and story. I love humanoid robots with digigrade legs and feet as opposed to human ones.
Not to mention his whole dynamic. Tis very cool.

I feel like I heard a name that might be cool but its at the tip of my brain... blast. Ill let ya know if i remember. Lol.

hah oh well. the courses i managed to get into for this semester are a writing workshop, digital storytelling and storyboard & animatic, so everything fits kinda well together

thanks; i also like digigrade legs better. of course i can't be sure, but i feel like they would be superior to human legs. they look like they'd make a human more athletic. i feel like they might be easier to make work on an android than human legs.

just googled faceless and apparently it's a band and some enemy in xcom xD

Havent even heard of those courses for my school. Then again, its not exclusively an art school so it figures. Ah well. XD im not really mad.

Yeah I agree about the legs. I feel like theyd be better at balance correction and speed. (I mean, look at dinosaurs. Digigrade feet there too. Bipedal and fast.)

Also, easier to draw. Human ones are a waking nightmare along with hands... more fun too.

Hahaha! XD never heard of that band or enemy before now.

If it were me, I would either find some historical or mythical character for a name or use some latin synonym. (Heres hoping I spelled and used that word correctly.)

But thats just what id do, your characters are yours.
