Part one of my A Bug's Life 2 Sequel Idea Sketches

About the Work!

Recently I've dug up my old ideas for an A Bug's Life sequel. Of course, it never really had an actual story, just a bunch of characters. Well, I've gone through what I had, gotten rid of pointless characters, fleshed out those who remained, added new ones, and actually came up with a story. We'll see how far it goes.

Okay, so who's who and what's what in this sketch sheet?

-The snake is called Lord IceEye, and he's one of the main antagonists (there are two) in the story. He's an unusually large cottonmouth snake that lives on the riverbank. He found a gold bracelet with emeralds in it somewhere and wears it as a crown. When he speaks, he draws out his s(es).

-The owl is called Noctus, and he's sort of a mash of a protagonist and antagonist. Yes, he eats bugs, but he also helps them by providing advice (provided he takes an interest in their questions). Noctus is an old Great Horned Owl who lives in a tree by the river.

-The ants are called the Sandstone Ants, and they come from a faraway colony that was nearly wiped out. The ones pictured here are Iris (a healer), Leaf (a small child), Asher (the princess of the colony but not yet leader), Rueben (the leader of the survivors), and Bolt (a soldier). They shelter on Ant Island during the winter following their arrival (the fall after Hopper's defeat).

-The pine crickets are a group of insects that live in fear of Noctus and Lord IceEye. They shelter in a thorn bush on the riverbank.

-The tree and rocks are located on the riverside where Noctus, Lord IceEye, and the Pine Crickets live. It has an important role to play.

-The bird by the tree is Crimsonfeather, a young sparrow with red feathers (I was too lazy to finish his sketch). He lives in the knothole in the tree on Ant Island with his parents and two sisters.
