RosesAndThorns — Her bloodied hands

Description This fanart depicts the unmasking scene from Gaston Leroux's "The Phantom of the Opera."

After Christine has unmasked Erik, he grabs her hands and scratches them into the skin of his face. Though it is never mentioned, I'm guessing she got blood on her hands from the act.

This is quite different from anything else in my gallery. Your thoughts?

Media used: Micron pens and colored pencil.

This is actually one of my favourite scenes in the book. I love the terrible, desperate horror it portrays, but also the heartbreaking agony and madness of it. This piece captures those feelings very well. Wonderful work!

Poor Erik! He looks in such a state of shock! Christine's horriffied look is excellent, but I just want to slap her.

The three-color scheme of this is very striking; more colors would have detracted from the impact of the scene. Gorgeous!

And, somehow, Erik ended up with sexy eyes O.o

I finished it last night, but I have yet to type it up (I write all of my Phics longhand first), And gahhhh! Even though I've writtten about twenty pieces, and has my beta even read one? NOOOO!!! SO there's nothing on my fan fiction site as yet, except some writing I did for school which I think has some glaring inaccuracies....

Anyway, sorry to ramble, but if you want to check my site in about 6 months there should be something there. I think I'm just going to give up on my Beta..

Great work, Jodie. I love the contrast of the black and white against the red--it is a very powerful effect. The clothing--the expressions on their faces--all beautiful. I love it!

And my god, did you make his eyes sexy....

Thank you! I'm glad you like the contrast of the black/white against the red.

I guess his eyes *did* turn out to be quite sexy! Not my original intent ... but an unexpected bonus, I think.

I submitted this piece to the unmasking contest on PFN ... so ...

the red blood on the hands is really striking against the black and white drawing. And the blood on his face ties it back into the picture well. Great work. Erik looks more in a state of shock that angry to me, but that's not a bad thing at all.

RosesAndThorns In reply to Punjabchild [2005-04-23 05:16:59 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Erik is in more of a state of shock in this picture. His anger is mostly abated.

I'm glad you like the contrast of the red against the black and white.
