Whatever length you are comfortable working with, it's easy to add more thread later if it was too short.

Albino colouring works best, I think. Gonna try a brown one, or maybe gold, not sure how that'll end up.

Maybe a spotted pattern - light brown with dark brown spots?

Torathor [2015-12-17 06:25:56 +0000 UTC]
fun fact: axolotls are just immature newts. if you give them a subcutaneous dose of iodine, they mature. hence, they could be say that they refuse to grow up XD

Torathor In reply to Rrkra [2016-01-05 01:02:28 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, there's a lot of very good reasons why they decided not to grow up, and sticking them with iodine and expecting everything to be okay would be bad....
They're like the Peter Pan of amphibians!

YES, YES, YES to a tutorial.ย My Dad used to have a beautiful yellow one.ย But it ate the rest of the fish in the tank, and had to be given a new home.

I think I read an article or two on that, kinda amazing.
Makes me want to make one with a glow-in-the-dark thread, hmm...

you totally should! It would look like using florescent markers for the genes! Our little friends the Axoltls have taught us a LOT about wound care and healing we would never know otherwise. It's pretty darn awesome.
