Description A new watercolour from my recent trip to Bangor, North Wales. These little cottages perch on the edge of the Menai Strait, one of the most dangerous channels of water in the UK. The tide comes in from both ends of the strait, creating dangerous currents and whirlpools to trap the unwary.

Very nicely rendered I wish I could do light watercolors like you. I always have that urge to make my colors bolder.

The structure is so sharp and bright, it constrasts so wonderfully with the furry of the sea below!

Beautiful blue brown greens in the angy sky Ruth as well as a powerful sense of the wind swept breakers.

Thanks Barrie (although the background is supposed to be trees! lol) It was incredibly windy, almost lifting my husband off his feet!

No, no Ruth - I'm sure that it was you who were sweeping your husband off his feet. Barrie

Wonderful watercolor!
I like the different watercolor techniques used on this piece. From wet on wet, splatter effect, dry brush, and to the hint of salt on the left rocks (I may be wrong on this one) make this a great painting.

Thank you, you named all the techniques except the last. I didn't use salt, it was clear water splashed or sprayed on still damp washes, which gives a similar effect without the possible damage salt could cause later.

You are welcome!
Yeah, I was not sure about that one. Somehow it didn't look like salt. It was too smooth.
