Description
This took SOOOO long to make, even at one point, I got so frustrated that I just shut off my computer and went to lie down for the rest of the day.

Anyway, this is the first important scene for my characters official backstory.
In this scene, Ruby just horribly landed on other smaller planet. She had just escaped her home world in a spacecraft that was owned by her parents. Ruby had to survive on her own in this small, empty and unknown planet, the only issue is that she has no idea how to survive in the outside world. Not because she didn't have any survival skills, she has NEVER been outside in general. Note how she looks nervous as she looks around. She remained inside her ship for almost entire month.
I'll be doing the second important scene! Hope you guys liked this one!

Oh wow! I can tell you put alot of time into this! The line-art is so well done and the colours you used really bring some of it out, especially the ship! Which by the way looks epic, like its from a comic cx The shading is amazing and isn't too overwhelming. Ruby's anatomy is well done as always and she really suits the situation at hand, (Although can't help but think shes saying "we're not in Kansas anymore")
And again your description really gives it that little extra detail. cx

I could tell it was getting to you, the background I always find so hard to shade, you did the right thing by giving it a day, it really helps to give it a break and it really paid off for you! I'm guessing this is the drawing you were asking for shading advise?

Yeah, there's tons of different ways to shade. It was hard for me to explain. That's why I was frustrated cuz I found so many shading tutorials but none that I wanted.

Ah yes, I tend to do "lazy" shading where you go over the whole drawing with a colour and with a darker or/and lighter shade of that colour, can come out with pretty cool effects (For 3D types I tend to have two layers one blue the other red)
What shading did you use? If you don't mind me asking? xD

Well, when I shade...I grab the color I'm going shade and use a darker version of the original color. I do the same with lighting too. Sometimes I use the effects bar, mostly for multiply or luminosity. Then, I use the blur tool for some parts.

Well it isn't like cell shading were you have to make it "tidy" you simply shade a bit you want without worrying of messing up cx
Ohh so you go off your characters colours and darken it? I used to do that till I found easier ways :'D Another one is using black and lowing the opacity to what you like. Has some what the same effects as yours cx
I'm always using the settings of the layer, the amount of effects is shocking!
