Oh, nice find! Maybe it's that kind of things that inspired Tolkien for his Ents ^^

This picture made my day...bsolutely enchanting! Must have been really difficult to spot this fellow. I wish I could have a little chit-chat with him.

runique In reply to Melathea [2009-07-08 23:46:38 +0000 UTC]

Yes, as is often the way with such things I initially spotted him out of the corner of my eye. But I'm learning how and where to look and each time I visit Cornwall on holiday I always find one (this fellow 3 years ago, the 'haunted' one last year and this year .... well you'll just have to wait and see, I'll be posting him over the next few days

Melathea In reply to runique [2009-07-09 00:02:10 +0000 UTC]

I'll be looking forward to it! It appears that there are more of them in Cornwall than here in Germany. Maybe I should also go there on holiday...

runique In reply to Melathea [2009-07-09 00:14:54 +0000 UTC]

Well if you did visit Cornwall I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed, it's a magical place in so many ways and has inspired so many legends. I'm sure Germany has plenty too and you'll get lucky soon.

At first I thought that Ent was a type of tree but after your second Ent I assumed it's an Entity

You do know how to catch them in the right sun direction for the patterns.

runique In reply to Mystic-Cat-Goddess [2009-03-22 04:04:37 +0000 UTC]

The inspiration for this, and my other ent photo, was the ents that feature in Tolkein's books. When walking in the forest I'm always on the lookout for these sorts of trees, they make wonderful subjects.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tipsynymph In reply to runique [2009-02-26 01:14:40 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes definately worth it It cost about £6 to get in but we heard if you say you're from cornwall you get in for free (didn't find this out until after we had been in there lol)

Here is the link to the museum's website [link]
