Having it done properly is my best advice!
She's had these three years now!

I have also read (and am experimenting; waiting for results) of higher success rate with punch and taper as opposed to needles. I know for my self the punch and taper'd piercings just feel like they fit in place a lot better and don't hurt as much (then again pain isn't much of a factor lol).

Punch and taper is nice for some surface work, but I use a needle method. Punch and taper can still reject just as easily as any other surface piercing.

I think the only trick is proper placement, depth, and aftercare. it doesn't matter if it's a man or woman. I've done nape piercings for years and the success rate is high as long as they are being cared for properly.
This is a proper surface piercing. My transdermals I think you mean microdermals, and I honestly feel like they don't last on the back of the neck for as long as a surface to surface piercing.
