There was this crazy old man who used to lie around on my street.
Most of the time he would drink his booze and watch the world go by but sometimes the dreams would be too much and he would scream loudly. Then we would call the cops and they would take him away to dry out.
One really warm summer night, it was one of those nights in which everyone was outside fleeing the heat of their apartments. Even air conditioners could not help due to the rolling blackouts. I got to talk to the old man. "So you think you know whats going on in the world?", he asked me. Not really, I answered. Good, you have some sense, he said.
"There is a whole lot out there you do not know and a lot of it you do not want to know", he said with a look of remembered pain. Have been to places where the fabric of Reality is weak like an old shirt. Stay away from those places, you may not make it back.
Can see the Outsiders trying to poke their way into our world. They are soo hungry, our world would be just like a small snack to a hungry pitbull.
I asked him, "Is that why you scream"?
Heck no! I scream to scare off the pink elephants, they are such thieves!
Can swear I saw him wink.
Looks great.
Apologies if the story is offensive.

One time I had this strange dream, it was almost like watching a movie.
If I had bothered to write down what I saw, I could have written a cool story.
It had a beginning, some college chums decide to ride into town and they end up going into an area of town in which
the signs had strange characters on them. Actually it started with me going through changes in the darkness remembering how I got there. There was even a part in which my Uncle was telling me to stay out of certain neighborhoods. I remember bits and pieces now.
If you are a big fan of HPL stuff check out Cold Print by Ramsey Campbell, its a nice collection of HPL mythos inspired stories.
Brian Lumely basically ate up HPL and made his own version of the mythos.
Titus Crowe series is the Mythos and he also did the dreamworld series too.

If you mean Lovecraft yes I like his stuff. The other writers you mention have interesting websites {I have not heard of them before}so I will add them to my list.
Right now I am in the middle of a pile of Charles de Lint novels.
Thank you for the other links too.
And I agree that was a strange dream you had!

Charles de Lint has good stuff, just finished a collection of stories from David Drake.
That guy is all over the place, sci fi and fantasy.
