Description According to the PokeDex, Oddish are nocturnal, and during the day they bury themselves underground to absorb nutrients from the soil, leaving only their leaves exposed. Thus, they appear as a simple tuft of grass to potential predators.

Unfortunately for Oddish, Captain Olimar is attracted to such things rather than fooled by them.

This combines two of my favorite things! I wouldn't mind having an army of oddish in Pikmin either.

Ironically, Olimar is supposed to be much smaller than an Oddish...

That's a clever crossover. I could even see an Oddish trundling along with a pack of tiny Pikmin...

Many of your images contain a dream-like quality about them, expressed in the palette and drawing style, and they're always the better for it.

And Oddish has the perfect expression.

I'm glad that kind of thing comes through! I've always tried to develop that feeling, but I'm frustrated at my lack of technical ability. This was encouraging.

Also, your little icon!

...

The longer Olimar pulls at poor Oddish there, the more Oddish is gonna start to need Men's Rogaine kind of like Olimar could use some right about now.

This is classic--I love the humorous concept behind it, and just as always a Rusty quality specialty is delivered.

Keep it up dude.

This is such an awesome concept.
I kind of envy the whole "crossover" creativity you've got going on. Much love to your shading and tones, as always.

Damn pikmin games though, never could beat either. :\
I still loved the art direction and general game design though.

I just played the first one for the first time in this last week or two, and beat it with two days to spare. Just takes persistence.

I really adore that game, but it could also be a pain in the you-know-what quite often. I hear the second one is easier and has supreme AI, so I'm gonna get the 'New Play Control' version of that.

Also, yes! I'm not sure why I'm so hung up on crossovers lately, but it's fun! ^_^

K-Pasa In reply to rustyyy [2009-06-10 00:10:05 +0000 UTC]

Well.. I'm not the most patient person int the world, and I'm more of an actiony fan, so it really wasn't my kind of game to start with. OTL
(I wouldn't call that game action packed, though there is that occasional moment of tension, mostly frustration though, ugh)

The second seemed a little easier, but.. I got stuck at some point and just said screw it. Plus, if memory serves there isn't a time limit, so you can take as long as you want to do crud, so that's another thing to one-up the first.

eh, the third will probably own them both, but only time will tell. :/

rustyyy In reply to K-Pasa [2009-06-10 00:14:03 +0000 UTC]

I'm sort of a Jack of all Trades with gaming, so it was refreshing for me to play such a unique and of-it's-own genre after so many basic action games (which I do love and are my forte). The action is there, just presented abstractly if you think about it, it's really fascinating to me as a concept.

But yeah, it can be REALLY frustrating. I think Miyamoto slips into retro game-making mode sometimes and makes stuff NES style difficult. And then people who missed when games were a challenge find themselves cussing up a storm and bending their controllers and getting online and complaining about it. lol

Ah the irony.

And yes, third please!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

K-Pasa In reply to rustyyy [2009-06-10 00:21:05 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it is there, you're right.
But I'm more of the "explosions in every direction/kick flips and fist fights/major kick ass bosses" action kind of person, so stuff like pikmin didn't really hit the spot for me. I have to agree though that it was a game all it's own, and I really respect the creaters for that... even if it drove me crazy. xD

Oh God I know the feeling.
The whole pikmin experience felt like an R rated movie (for violence and language). I enjoy when a little NES is thrown in here and there, but a whole freaking game? Can't handle that.

But yeah, third's in developement, just wasn't shown at E3 (so maybe that thing about Nintendo waiting to show games later for more accurate release dates was right..?)
