A shame that I only got to enjoy it for a minute of so.

Amazing shot! However, those appear to be the Manzano Mountains, not the Sandias (they're further to the north).

Thank you! I'm glad you like it.
I would agree, but I watched us take off and fly over them, so I'm 100% sure they're the Sandias.

Those are the Manzanos. Bosque Peak is in the lower left corner and Manzano Peak is in the upper right:
I recognized Bosque Peak because of that ledge that stretches out towards the west from the summit.

First, you were in New Mexico! That's awesome! (Although I would avoid it due to my lack of tolerance to heat... )
Secondly, you got up at what hour???? (I'm an owl; really late owl according to my bio teacher...)
I was certain that you took it with a proper photography camera! It's that good! (And I've few of the photos taken by those)
Keep up the good work!
... is it bad that now I have 'The Circle of Life' form Lion King stuck in my head?

Because there is no humidity, it actually isn't nearly as hot as people think it is. I absolutely love the weather there.
And yeah, it was an early morning flight so I got up at like 3:30/4ish to make it to the airport by 6. Bleh.

I love mountains so much.
Thank you! This was such a lucky shot considering the speed we were moving.

This is true and is a concept I can't remember the name of at the moment....one second....aha! The term is optic flow. It has to do with relative velocity and the angle at which you are viewing the object and other physics stuff. Neat! And just for funsies, we were pretty close to the mountains still since we had just taken off roughly five minutes or less ago. Higher would have been a bad photo.
