Description One of North America's smallest herons, the Green Heron is sometimes hard to see as it stands motionless hunting, sometimes for hours. Likely the most interesting thing about this species is that it is one of the few tool-using birds! Green Herons frequently drop bait on the surface of the water, such as insects or feathers, and proceed to feed on any fish that come up to investigate. This bird flew by me in some nice evening light as I was waiting to watch a large group of Black-crowned and Yellow-crowned Night Herons leave their roost for the night.

Exquisite. Looks more like an oil painting than a photograph.

very nice capture...i only have seen this bird once, and it was really close to night time. I knew for a fact that its color was green, and its something i never seen before because the size of it and the way it flew. VERY WELL CAMOUFLAGED bird, 10/10.

Oh wow, that's a beautiful shot.

I've never seen a green heron before (Being from the UK it's obviously not a natural bird for me to see!) and I must say s/he's quite lovely.
