Description I thought this was a very funny pose for this tiny bird. Relatively rare in Massachusetts, the Orange-crowned Warbler is one of our drabbest warblers. The Canadian nesting subspecies which we see during migration here, doesn't leave their breeding grounds until late September or early October. This causes them to pass through well into December, making this species one of the latest fall migrant songbirds we see. These tiny warblers prefer weedy fields and dense tangles of shrubs and vines, so they are often hard to see.
