In my Star Wars TTRPG setting, the Clone War was a cataclysmic event, where a massive clone army laid siege to the galaxy, each year a new blitz. Year by year, civilizations fell and the galaxy was shifted forever. Before the Clone War, combat was much more romantic in the galaxy, a la the Mexican American War or even the early Civil War, where people journeyed to battlefields to spectate. The weapon this soldier is holding is one of three that infantry would be able to choose from. Others would use cycler rifles or energy bows (explaining why the outsider-fearing Tusken Raiders had cycler rifles despite having no usable ore on Tatooine, and why the witches of Dathomir have energy bows despite showing no other technology in any other facet of their society).
