"Hey you!"

Her unexpected shout startled him. "Huh? Whaaa?" he muttered as he turned and met his greeter. "Oh, hey Melody, what's up?" he smiled. He hadn't seen her in months.Not since the Bow-Tie Challenge, but the two remained friends chatting occasionally and helping each other as much as possible.

She apologetically smiled back at him. "Sorry if I spooked ya, I didn't mean to... I just thought I recognized you and sure enough, and well.. here you are."

He laughed. "Nah, you're fine. I just wasn't expecting to see you here. Are you competing?"

"Well of course I'm here, Mika asked me to come months ago. I'm not entering though, I've just had a lot to deal with these past few months so I came to support Mika and enjoy the show, ya know?" she looked down at her feet as she spoke.

Landon nodded because he understood. He too, had been coping with some hardships. His mind flashed back to the news from his father's doctor, the break up with his girlfriend, the accident, his mother, the news from his own doctor....

The pair stood in awkward silence for a moment. Finally Melody spoke. "So..... I saw Jordan and Cam's performance. Adorable! Everyone loved them!"

It took a moment for his mind to process he was being spoken to. Finally he broke out of his troubled daze and shuffled his face into a half smile. "Thanks. That's why I'm here.. for Jordan. I promised she could enter the show."

Just then Melody's phone rang. "Hello?" she answered "...Oh Mika..... Yes.... Oh hun...I'm sorry,... just...just calm down, we'll figure this out. I will meet you over there in just a moment." She slid the phone back into her pocket and glanced at Landon with a troubled look. "That was Mika. The riders who were supposed to ride Arina in the Double Trouble Class just canceled and they're due to show in ten minutes."

Landon Frowned. "That's not good...what's she gonna do?"

"She isn't sure. She's in a panic, poor thing. I promised I would meet her at their trailer, wanna tag along? We need all the help we can get figuring out what to do."

They were walking before he realized that he had agreed to walk over to DFF's trailer. Both of their eyes fell on their friend. Mika was anxiously pacing back and forth. Already prepared for the ring, Arina stood looking handsome as ever. Landon reached out and started to pet the stallion as Mika repeated her situation again. ".... The nerve of some people! Sure! I understand that emergencies happen, but come on! What am I going to do now? I need two riders in the next 3 minutes or elsssss.....THAT'S IT! YOU TWO! OOOOOH! THANK YOU!"

Melody and Landon stood mouth agaped, each looking as confused and shocked as the other. "Whaaaaat?" they both breathed.

"No time to explain. Get your asses on Arina and get out in the ring now!" Mika squealed. "PLEAAAAAAAASE!" she begged in much nicer tone.

Still in shock, the two quickly mounted the horse and entered the arena. It wasn't until they were in the center of the ring that Melody started to giggle and whispered into Landon's ear that he was representing Dark-Fantasy-Farms wearing a Toasted-Bone-Stables hat, Go figure.
