Less is more is the rule, I think. If you leave the hair until the end, then you can keep it clean, and by then you can be sure where and how the hair will fall, so less erasing/dark smudges. With this one, I had the same problem you mentioned and used the white pencil to bring it back. On another I did, I learned my lesson, and realized blonde hair is not like darker shades. You can't over work it, or it gets dirty.
Though I am hardly an expert, you might ask someone who draws alot of blondes. Just my advice from the few I've done.

great flow, use of space and detail. Absolutely Angelic.
I've noticed you've used mechanical pencils. I once had an artist tell me "YOU SHOULD NEVER USE MECHANICAL PENCILS"! Well, I told him to shove it!

I'd of told him the same thing most likely. My work improved greatly when I made the switch. Quite frankly, all that sharpening and the mess really ate up alot of time.
This drawing was inspired by a need for an image for my business card & blonde practice. I did not invest as much time as usual though and I think it shows.

I'm always curious as to different peoples approaches to white. Do you draw in negative, erase it away or layer up with the Aquarelle pencil you mention?
Case in point, the shine in her fringe or her fingernails.
I can spot a flaw or two too, but good practise methinks.

Thank you! My next should be a little better even, now that I've gotten over my Artist hurdle again. Darn obsticles, who puts those up anyway??!
It'll be your girls I draw next after this commission, if you still do not mind?
