Description
"Mule's been hit!" gasped Boomslang, the squad's medic. "Let's go."
"No, we stay here, the sky's full of them; It's too dangerous," replied Shadow.
"But he's injured!" pleaded Boomslang. "He needs our help now!"
"And I said No!" replied Shadow forcefully. Boomslang glared at him.
"I never had you down as a coward Shads," she hissed.
"I'm not a coward," he replied angrily. "I'm just trying to keep you alive long enough to actually help him. You're no good to him dead, Booms, and you know it."
The sound of a wyvern crashing through the treetops somewhere behind them made Shadow look round. Boomslang saw her chance.
"BOOMS!" shouted Shadow, shaking his head. It was to no avail; he knew it wouldn't be. He wanted to help Mule as much as she did, but he was more disciplined, more calculating, more used to choosing his moment to act. He wasn't like Boomslang. She was spontaneous and passionate, and right now, Mule's best hope for life. Shadow leapt forward and launched himself into the fight. All he could do now was try and protect her; let her do her job; save them both.
