And let the races begin....very very soon
. Spring is coming and so will the races. (Horse racing that is) Why am I interested in the Spring Racing Carnival? I'm looking forward to the creative fashion designs and the beautiful head pieces that are made each year. Above being an example of something - a hat/head piece to wear to the races. I must say that this is my first properly completed inked piece in years. I got inspired to to draw this after looking a a design in some magazine. There are crooked lines where the lines are long and many mistakes. (For example from her neck and downwards...my hand slipped) Overall I'm quite pleased with what I've done. This is also a resized version, so it wouldn't take too long to load.

This picture was sketched first. Then inked with an artline fine liner (o.4)...and that's it. It is not enhanced with PS in anyway.

yeh it took me a while, to get the flowers lookin pretty. The flowers are the main focus of the picture, so I'm glad that it was that which grabbed ur attention the most.

8d hmm i think the upper eyelids r somewat crooked.. might be the lashes.. xD neways lovely details and the simple shading... really enjoyable piece

thanks for spotting faults...it just makes it seem more real to me. Cos sometimes you know wat u did is wrong...but it doesn't really hit you til somebody else points it out too. So thanks~! And trust me...there are heaps of other faults....oh just some crooked lines here and there....XD

Beautiful piece of work. The spectacular headpiece with the flowers really grabbed my attention. Don't be too hard on yourself if you think there are faults. They are hardly noticeable. I look forward to seeing a colour version!

Yes I said I'll do the colour version ages ago. But I'm not good at colouring, and I've never done it on PS before. So don't have your hopes up too high on that one.
And yeh, I'd say the best thing about that drawing is the headpiece...that was the main focus of it. I like the flowers cos they look like lillies.

its because the fastest way is to go over it with the brush,but its kinda hard.you can try it,tho if you buy a tablet.with the pen tool,itll take 3x more time,even it if makes nice,clean lines.

It's a lovely picture, I love it. You can really feel the way she's turned around in reaction to something that's caught her attention. I just love the face expression and all the hair ornaments and flower decorations.
I don't see many mistakes, but one and it's not a big deal really. The eyebrow on the left ( her right eyebrow ) is too long from the angle we are looking at. It should be proportioned to the angle of her face and to fit her eye's angle as well.
However, I believe the hair decorations distract us from seeing any small mistakes like that one.
It's a really amazing piece, and it's really beautiful. Overall, astounding job.
