I find it interesting that you were really into boys and then figured out you weren't straight.

yeah, it was strange. i blame it on a little internalized struggle i had to sift through during middle school because i didn't want to be anything other than straight, because i could only think of how much stress that would cause me in terms of coming out to my conservative parents and how my friends would take it and how hard life could be for me then. by the time i was 11 i was already interested in all genders, but i kind of quashed those feelings for a while because they scared me. i had a boy phase, then, and around 8th grade a lot of my friends started coming out and i realized if they can manage to be not straight and still be accepted in the community, it's a really good thing! by the time i entered high school i was questioning myself again and literally three months in i came to the conclusion there is no way in hell i'm straight, i'm attracted to bodies and genders of all types across the spectrum and can fall in love with these people too. so that's my little anecdote on that aspect of my life

a quote I read in a book was,"I don't fall in love with a gender or stereotype, I fall in love with an individual."

I'm always interested in people's identity struggles. They're so different for everyone.

What on earth does "intersectional feminism" mean? It sounds... worrying....

feminism makes claims for equality across all genders, but has a tendency to only acknowledge white, cis women. intersectional means you always take into account different factors that come into play in a persons life and how that affects their place in society...i.e. intersectional feminism covers people who id as trans*, who aren't white, who might not be straight, etc., etc. because that stuff highly affects how society treats you.

a point you hear in feminism is that "a woman makes 75 cents for a mans dollar!" untrue. a white woman makes 75 to a mans dollar. a hispanic woman makes 55 cents to a mans dollar. when points like this are skipped over, it kind of thrusts a whole group of people aside, and it prevents them from getting the attention and help they need to fix the issue. so intersectional feminism is quite important to me, seeing as its addressing an issue that messes with my rights and quality of life as a non-white "girl".
