Description
Pet Hydras are cute and kind (well, most of the time) and can be very curious. They like to hide in pockets, drawers (preferably with your socks) or in cardboard boxes. If you build them a nest, they might stay there for a while, but their thirst for adventure keeps them restless. Can you imagine sharing a body with two other heads? I wonder how these guys manage to walk in a straight line without arguing all the time! Well, sometimes they do disagree with one another.

The Peacock Tree Hydra comes in several colors, with each color having it's own patterns~ Here, we have a male, Green~ As their common name implies, Tree Hydra's spend nearly their entire life within the canopies, hunting insects and small game, or foraging for fruit and seeds~ Tree Hydra are extremely fleet-footed, but have rarely been recorded jumping from branch to branch, as they blend in with their surroundings almost seamlessly~

The name originates from the long, flowing mane and tail displayed by mature males of the species, made from a surprising blend of fur, and modified, or rudimentary feathers~ The Green tree Hydra stands out among the different breeds in that its mane only DOES NOT grow continously~ Its mane is made up of stiff feathers that stand out gracefully from is slender neck~ Like all other Peacock Hydras, the tail does not grow out fully until well into their adult years~ Life in the canopy can be made more dangerous by having long, easily snagged and tangled hair while navigating narrow branches~ These hazards make an adult Hydra male with a full, healthy mane and tail quite attractive to receptive females~ The male Tree Hydra attracts potential mates, by fanning both his mane an tail in a ritualistic dance upon sturdy, well flowered branches~
