Description

This started off as a quick sketch, but I got a little carried away.
Medium: Green pencil crayon

I used a reference picture from my old art classroom, but I didn’t bother with
perspective or a ruler… So the buildings are off.
I think I will continue working with architecture. I’m rather fond of it.

Have a lovely day everyone!

Yeah, you should definitely keep drawing architecture. I love the way you draw the buildings and landscape

Thank you! I haven’t drawn any architecture in a while (due to summer projects),
but perhaps I will pick it up again in the near future.

We haven’t talked lately; how are you? Do you have anything exciting planned for the summer?  c:

Yeah, I just got two kind of big projects dumped on me this week. It's really exciting to work on, but exhausting, man -_-

I've been really well Just been relaxing this summer. I quit my job to "regain mental health" after being so stressed with school and work the last year and a half. I've got about a month and a half before I leave home to go to a 4 year university.

How's your life been going?

You can say that again. D:If only we had more time in the day.

That's great! Are you feeling better?

I can't believe the new school year is almost here... Summer is going by WAY too fast.
What courses did you enroll in for this year?

My life is good; I've been working on a commission for a family member, and writing my NaNoWriMo novel. When I'm not busy with art and writing I'm at Walmart working... I will be leaving in about a month and a half to go to a 5 year university too... Hopefully the school year is better for the both of us. c:

I don't think I asked you before, what did you want to do after school?

AquaStorm4 In reply to Sahfire14 [2015-07-11 00:34:06 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I feel a lot better. I have so much free time

Summer is going too fast, yes. I'm excited to be at a new school, but also really nervous. Going to be living on campus with roommates
My classes include Typography II, Web Design, Logo and Identity Design, Math (ick), Speech (even more ick), and Philosophy, which I think will be interesting, but I might drop because 6 courses is a lot for one semester. But my dad (who's being really nice and paying for my education) really wants me to be able to graduate in two years, so I'm trying to do as much as I can without giving myself another mental breakdown. So I don't know. I might take it as an online course.

Oh, so you're doing NaNoWriMo this month too? How's your writing going?
Good luck at your university, too! And like you said, hopefully it'll be a good year

I think you have asked, but it's been a while. I plan to go into web design and a little bit of graphic design, too. And if that goes well, I might take a few more classes and get into illustration. One of my mom's friends told me that I need to go work for Google

I’m sure you will do great! Just a fair warning though, it’s best to stay your distance from the kitchen. If you’re residence is anything like mine, it can get very messing, haha. D: Have you been in contact with your roommates yet, or has school already started for you?

Taking Philosophy as an online course will definitely help free up some time. It gives you the power to watch/listen to the lecture whenever it suits you. The only downside is you don’t get to meet up with any other students… That being said I am taking an online course too, and I’m sure you will really enjoy it. Also, your Web Design course sounds interesting. C:

It’s okay. I only wrote 15,000 words, but it helped me develop my characters a little better.
How did you do in NaNoWriMo?

The year will be great!

That’s right, I did ask you… I apologize, I’m incredibly forgetful. However, after seeing some of your design work from last year, I have no doubt that you will find a great job with your skills.

School just started on the last day of August. I have really nice roommates. We met for the first time on move-in day.

I decided not to take philosophy. I thought 6 classes was going to be a little too much for me. I'm probably going to take an online course or two over the summer, though. All my classes and professors seem good so far, too. Web design is a little slow right now, but I'm sure we'll get into some more advanced stuff pretty soon.

I made it to 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo! Barely, but I did it and I was so happy! I was able to finish part one of my story, and I've been mentally blocking out part 2, trying to figure out what's going to happen and when, and all that. I think it's going pretty well.

I guess you will have exams soon like me. It’s been a while, I’m sorry for taking so long to reply to you. How have you been?

That’s great, I’m glad everything is working out.

Wow! Congratulations! I can’t believe you made it to 50,000 words. I wish I had your motivation to write that much. Have you started the editing process then, or are you going to be picking that up again in the summer?

This is about the time for midterms, but I didn't have any. Got several more weeks before it's time for finals (yaay.... -_-)

Like you, exhausted. Classes are challenging this year, since now I'm at a 4-year university 3 hours away from home. Lots of projects and no break. I'm designing websites for a class left and right, creating an entire typeface, making books, making logos and business cards and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! But I really do like my classes and (most) of my instructors.

Yeah, I was super excited. I'm actually only halfway through my story. Finished re-writing part one and I think it's probably better than the first draft. I'm going to have to finish writing, but probably over the summer again. November NaNoWriMo is just really bad timing.

Sorry for the late reply again…. On the bright side finals are over. c:

Sounds like a lot of work, but I’m glad that you’re enjoying it so far. This year I made the mistake of signing up for morning classes, (because I was able to do it in high school) and it started to become too much by the end of November…. Thankfully second semester starts today.

If you ever need someone to read it over for mistakes, I will be happy to help. I took a grammar course last semester and I really adore your writing.

On the other hand, I didn’t do NaNoWriMo this November for the same reason. It’s too busy around that time of year to write 50,000 words…

You don't have to keep apologizing for late replies. Talking with you is kind of a rare spark in my day. Unexpected, but enjoyed.

I had all morning classes last semester too! I had a horrible time with it as well, but on the bright side I was able to get out early and take some naps

I might have to take you up on that offer. I'm not great with grammar and definitely screw up tense a lot. My parents once proof-read, but they missed a lot of mistakes on my first draft.
I'd love to read some more of your stuff, too if you're still writing. Maybe help proofread if you want. I'm still pretty decent with grammar, but I help with continuity or plots. (I find myself reading some books and critiquing strategies and plans made by protagonists )

I hope to do Camp NaNoWriMo again this next summer, but it depends on the timing.

I often say “sorry” to people for moments in time when I don’t need to. I believe, after saying the word so often it has become a habit. I guess you can say I’m a natural born Canadian.
Thank you. That’s really sweet, I enjoy talking to you as well.

Haha. No university student can turn down a well-deserved nap.

If it helps any, I’m still learning how to improve on my grammar as well. I can’t edit my own work, and the proof copy that I purchased two years ago has at least 200 sticky notes with mistakes written on them. I have not written anything recently (because of school) but I may have to take you up on that offer as well. It’s always nice to have a second opinion.

Perhaps we can join the same group, providing the time works for the both of us.

I'm guilty of apologizing a lot too, but I'm American, so it's not really a part of our stereotype. I've been scolded for apologizing too much, and then apologized for apologizing too much.

It's so hard to self-edit without getting frustrated with your past self for what you wrote. I do cringe a little bit at what I've written in the past. My dad printed out my book at his work (which was the written version that I made into a large-print pdf so my mom could read it. There are SO many pages!) And then he knabbed a binder from his workplace and hole punched it all for me. My parents are really supportive and the only ones that have read the entire novel. But they don't know grammar. And I'm kind of embarassed at some of the stuff they read, even though they said the book was good. After I read through it myself, so many pen scribbles were added...
School definitely gets in the way of writing. And proofreading. And everything.

Same group? Group of what? Or where...? But I'd definitely like some help proofing and would enjoy helping you too

Haha

For sure, school makes it difficult to pick up a pen and write a little. It’s nice to have supportive parents. C: I also printed my novel, and was going to let my parents read it, but my nerves got the best of me…. As a result, only one of my friends read my novel. She said it was good, but I’m also embarrassed of the final work.

Thank you, maybe we can discuss ideas or ways to improve our writing through Skype. C:

Also, Camp NaNoWriMo offers the option to be put in the same group with four people. In the group, you can communicate back and forth through a chat box. Similar to what we did together a few years back.

I gave my friends the file to read, but I'm pretty sure they never read it, which is a little disappointing because I never got their feedback, which would have been much more valuable than my parents. Love my parents, but english and grammar are definitely not their strong points. And neither of them have touched a book in the last two years, I'm pretty sure.

Writing tips are much fun to get, but I don't really know how much I have to share

OH YEAH! I forgot that Camp NaNoWriMo is coming up! I did go into a "cabin" last summer wen I wrote, but I didn't really know anyone, and I think I was the only one to reach their goal.

Sahfire14 In reply to AquaStorm4 [2016-06-19 01:47:45 +0000 UTC]

That sounds familiar. c: My friend read over my book, but didn’t give feedback. The copy I gave her was barely marked up (I now have over 300 stick notes of spelling mistakes… and counting). It’s a challenge trying to find someone to read your book who has a keen eye for grammar.

Agree.

I know because I was in your cabin. Also, you’re right. I think you made it to 60,000 words (or something) and I only wrote 15,000. Maybe next month we can both give it another try.

I think friends can be hesitant to give honest feedback sometimes, too. Like they're afraid of hurting your feelings or making you feel bad about something that you really like to do. I know I am hesitant when I'm critiquing friend's work, but sometimes you need to be hard on 'em so that they can get better.

Hmm... You were in my cabin the first time i did NaNoWriMo which was fun! I was veeeryyy motivated to write that summer. I did it a second time, though, a year later where you weren't in my cabin. I barely met my goal that time, but was still very proud that I made it.
