Nice simple effective shot. Your choices of value are what insure the composition works. The opaque black of the tree and foreground keeps it symbolic and controls the possibility of looking for more where it not intended. The tonal quality of the sky is lovely and well controlled. Your timing in waiting for the opening in the clouds directly above the little tree give the sense that the tree is being graced by it or connection with the heavens in some way. Gives the image a solitary but hopeful feel.
